| Does
SisterVision only work for women/gay people?
Don't be silly. "The opposite of patriarchy is not
matriarchy, it is fraternity." SisterVision will make videos for anyone;
male, female, transgender or intersex, gay, straight, bisexual or questioning,.
The site is geared towards lesbians and gay men in order to redress a historical
imbalance. We have no prejudice in this regard and are happy to work with anyone. |
| Isn't
it a bit expensive though?
Wedding cameramen who advertise in the Yellow Pages generally charge between £420
and £800 for the same service. And they may not be very sensitive
to the culture of your event. |
| Why
not just ask my friend/girlfriends cousin/sisters neighbour to do
it for free?
Good idea but unless they're a trained cameraperson you risk getting a lot of
shaky, out of focus, badly exposed images and long shots of the floor on a three
hour tape that no one will ever watch. So if you want to be guaranteed a
slick and fun-to-watch video - go with SisterVision. |
| What
is included in the price and what isn't?
The rates include pretty much everything; labour, equipment and accessory hire,
tape, editing, machine time, VAT and delivery of two edited VHS tapes or DVDs.
The only extra you need to think about is travel for the camerawoman. This is
charged at £1/mile from Oxford to your venue. There are no other costs you
need to consider. |
| What's
so special about using a digital video camera?
You get really crisp pictures, can work in relatively low-light situations and
also you can edit without losing any picture quality. |
| Won't
it be intimidating to have someone with all that equipment around?
Not really, just look at the picture on the Who is SisterVision? page or read
what other women have said in the Recommendations. |
| What
will I be able to use the video for?
As a memento. It will make a good gift for friends and family who weren't
able to attend the event, perhaps they live in a different country. The video
will show you in a good light and you can use it to promote your activities if
you are having it made on behalf of an organisation. |
| Will
the camerawoman be dressed appropriately?
No, she usually comes in a 12 foot lobster suit with exploding top hat. Just kidding.
She will dress to blend in with the guests; formal, casual or whatever is required. |
| How
long will our video be?
Thats up to you but with videos less is definitely more. The shorter it
is the more you and your friends will enjoy watching it. Its harder to make
a shorter video but it definitely pays off. |
| Would
you consider working outside the mainland UK?
Happily Get in touch to discuss this. I have a lot of experience shooting
abroad. |
